RES Software Rolls Out Enhanced Product Pricing and Packaging Model Allowing for Persistent Personalization starting at $30
Updates to licensing and solution bundling reduce prices and provide a clear, easy-to-manage path toward dynamic desktop environments
Philadelphia, PA – February 14, 2011 — RES Software, the proven leader in dynamic desktop solutions, today announced a refreshed product pricing and packaging model that will extend across its entire portfolio. The model features lower prices starting at $30 per end user and more flexible, modular bundling options for RES Workspace Manager and RES Automation Manager solutions, making it easy for end users to build centrally managed computing environments that are adaptive, simplified, automated and streamlined based on each organization’s unique needs.
In response to the growing use of workspace management in hybrid desktop environments, including physical and virtual desktops and multiple endpoint devices, RES Software has introduced named-user licensing, beginning with the release of Workspace Manager 2011. RES Software will continue to support concurrent licensing and will also allow organizations to combine concurrent and named-user licensing for maximum flexibility and cost effectiveness.
The newly launched Workspace Manager 2011 consists of three modules that each address different levels of needs for workspace management within an organization. It is simple to upgrade from one module to the next as IT departments are able to become more strategic.
The Composition & Personalization Module is available for $30 per named user. It allows IT to create a user workspace that is separate from the underlying infrastructure and context aware. This enables organizations to take the first steps in managing users, instead of their devices, often referred to as persistent personalization.
Upgrading initially to Advanced Administration Module, which provides additional insight into the user workspace, and then eventually to the Security & Performance Module, giving IT the ability to fully secure each user’s workspace, costs only an additional $30 each. With this approach, IT managers can introduce the dynamic desktop philosophy, taking small steps to the big goal of fully dynamic desktops environments.
Workspace Manager can be combined with RES Automation Manager, the second core product offered by RES Software. Automation Manager allows IT departments to automate day-to-day tasks, which helps to standardize and ensure predictable results. Both products are bundled in the Dynamic Desktop Studio.
Dynamic Desktop Studio Lite, a subset of the full Dynamic Desktop Studio suite that pairs the composition and personalization aspects of Workspace Manager with the task automation and resource provisioning parts of Automation Manager, will also now be available as a bundled service for only $45 per named user.
“IT managers must begin taking small steps to shift the focus from IT as a cost driver to a strategic asset. RES Software has completely recalculated our pricing and packaging model to reduce the barrier to entry into dynamic desktops for companies spanning a wide array of markets,” said Bill Corrigan, Chief Marketing Officer of RES Software. “We all face the problem, especially in today’s economic climate, of having to stretch dollars and resources further than ever before. By updating our licensing structure and bundling our products into modules that are easy and cost effective to implement and scale, we are helping organizations to take small, easy-to-manage steps toward the big goal of dynamic desktops.”
